Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

A Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation involves discussing what you are experiencing, your concerns, your mind-body-spirit symptoms, your medical and psychiatric history, family history and psychosocial factors effecting your mental health balance and well-being.

During our first visit together, we will meet for about 1.5 - 2 hours with a primary goal of building a trusting patient-practitioner relationship, establishing a DSM-5 TR (Psychiatric Diagnostic Manual, 5th Edition, text-revision) diagnosis, identifying treatment goals and creating a treatment plan.

My goal at Balance Psychiatry & Mental Health is to get to know you and treat your mind-body-spirit, not solely treat your “symptoms”. I am trained in Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation, Diagnosis and Treatment of the following in children, teens, and adults:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Pre-Menstrual Dysphoria
  • Attention & Focus Concerns
  • Relationship Issues
  • Mood Swings
  • Mood Disorders
  • Obsessive Thoughts
  • Compulsive Behaviors
  • Trauma & PTSD
  • Sadness
  • Anger
  • Irritability
  • Racing Thoughts
  • Perinatal Mental Health

Establishing Diagnoses

Information gathered in the initial evaluation (including questionnaires you complete before your visit) will be thoroughly reviewed to establish an accurate DSM-5 TR diagnosis to guide treatment. Common DSM-5 TR diagnoses include, but are not limited to, Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Insomnia Disorder, ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder) and Personality Disorder.

Developing a Treatment Plan

Based on your DSM-5 TR diagnosis, and presenting mind-body symptoms, together we will develop an individualized treatment plan to address your unique personal psychiatric and mental health needs and goals. Your individualized treatment plan can include Psychotropic Medication(s), Complementary, Alternative and/or Psychotherapeutic Treatment Modalities, laboratory testing, recommendations for further Diagnostic Imaging/Testing, and referrals to Primary Care Physicians and Psychiatric Specialists. Balance Psychiatry & Mental Health will collaborate with your primary care provider and/or any specialty providers as needed to ensure your continuity of care. We can discuss Pharmacogenomic testing, at your request. If it is determined your treatment needs would better be addressed by another Provider, Balance Psychiatry & Mental Health may refer you to a higher level of care or to providers that can more specifically address your needs.
